【 Fire door - Fire safety regulations 】

      In Macau, fire doors that meet the requirements of the Fire Protection Bureau must have thermal insulation and fire resistance, with fire resistance ratings of 30 minutes, 60 minutes, 90 minutes and 120 minutes respectively. General fire door structure is more complex than ordinary doors, fireproof wooden doors, fireproof steel doors, fireproof glass doors, special fire doors, etc., and fireproof wooden doors and fireproof steel doors are generally composed of wood/steel plates, fire boards, seals and door closers and hinges and other hardware. Fireproof glass is composed of stainless steel frame, fireproof glass, fireproof board, fireproof seal, fireproof cotton and ground spring handle, which needs to use different minutes and different types of fireproof doors according to the scale and use of the building.

In order to reduce the possibility of fire, limit the expansion of fire, control and minimize its impact, especially the spread of burning smoke and gas, and make it easy for people at risk to evacuate and rescue, the government has formulated a series of regulations for the fire door requirements of various buildings:

(1)      The surrounding environment and scale of the building, in particular according to its height, are classified as MA (extra High), A (High), M (medium) and P (Low) buildings and may include the classification as specified in the technical specification, with fire resistance rating according to the classification of buildings;

(b) the load and intended use of the building, divided into residential, commercial, industrial and other uses;

(c) places, facilities and equipment with special risks, such as general electrical facilities belonging to lifts, ventilation and air conditioning, other special facilities and equipment, as well as boiler and freezing areas, evacuation and residual collection areas, kitchens and product or material storage areas;

By adopting the Fire Safety Regulations in response to Decree-Law 24/95/M, one of the major gaps in this area has been filled. The legislation includes a series of measures that can be applied universally to all buildings, subject to the use, type of occupation and height class of the building. In addition, the regulations also include specifications for facilities and locations with special risks, as well as requirements for the special use of basement and buildings.
